FAQs
Q: How does Tweeet work?
A: Tweeet plays pre-recorded calls of Swifts, House Martins or Purple Martins (depending on the model) that are nesting. These birds tend to nest in colonies and so are attracted by the calls of other birds to a potential nesting site.
Q: How long does the battery last?
A: Usually in excess of 60 days depending on temperature and volume setting. There is also a USB powered device available.
Q: How loud is the Tweeet?
A: Tweeet has a maximum sound output of around 98dB at 1M (for comparison, normal human conversation is around 60dB)
Q: How often does Tweeet play its bird calls?
A: Tweeet plays bird calls for 2 hours after dawn
Q: Can I get Tweeet to play at other times?
A: Yes, the automatic switching on at dawn can be disabled for 24 hour operation. See description on how to below:
With the unit turned on after the initial calls have been played, press the volume control down for 2 secs or more and it will cycle through different tones and loudness. The highest tone being the loudest. When you get the loudest, highest tone, take your finger off the button and leave the unit for a few seconds. Then press the volume down and you will here the same tone again. Keep your finger on the button for three complete cycles (meaning you hear the highest tone when you press initially and then three more times). When you hear the tone for the last time take your finger off the button immediately and you will hear an owl play. This means the box will run regardless and ignore the light sensor. See the video to set to 24 hour operation HERE
See the video to reset to back to normal operation HERE
Note: The batteries will last only 80 hours approx in continuous operation.
Q: Is Tweeet waterproof?
A: Yes, you can leave Tweeet in the rain as it’s specified up to Nema 4/ IP65. We do recommend that the unit is removed once the nesting season is finished and stored indoors to maximise the unit’s life.
Q: Will Tweeet upset my pets
A: No, unless you have a specifically nervous pet, Tweeet is playing natural bird sounds the pet should be familiar with.
Q: Are the batteries easy to change?
